The Battery Show, North America’s largest advanced battery technology event, and the Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo, dedicated to the drive train and power system in electric and hybrid vehicles, announced the programming for its 2021 conference, taking place at the Suburban Collection Showcase in Novi Sept. 14-16.

The conference will provide education delivered by distinguished industry experts covering new methods of advanced battery design and latest technologies, battery manufacturing development, and newly added forecasts of the market supply chain and regulatory outlook.

“The Battery Show and Electric Vehicle Technology Conference has been expertly designed with each session selected an advisory board composed of scientists, engineers, and executives from top-industry companies,” says Jenny McCall, The Battery Show and Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo event director.

“With consumers and OEMs’ growing interest in electric and battery powered vehicles, we’re thrilled to be able to provide the important community of engineers and innovators educational opportunities to grow their knowledge and ultimately help meet the industry’s goals and demand.”

Conference attendees also will have the opportunity to tune into four three-hour pre-conference workshops conducted one day before the expo on Monday, Sept. 13, to explore topics in great depth and breadth through a detailed and interactive learning experience on core subject matters in advanced batteries and electric and hybrid vehicles.

Each session will be organized into one of the following conference tracks:

• Battery Markets, Supply Chain and Regulatory Policy Outlook

• Battery Design, Application and Manufacturing

• Advanced Battery Technologies and Evolution

• Stationary Power Advancements

• E/HV Technologies Industry Development and Forecasts

• Transportation Electrification and Emerging Applications

• EV and Hybrid Design Advancements

• Fast Charging and Infrastructure Advancements

Some of the featured keynote sessions are as follows:

Sept. 14 will feature two sessions. The first, “Battery Market and Economic Outlook: Supply and Demand,” will open the conference with a roundtable of top industry leaders discussing what the new outlook for the US battery market looks like, including growth trends, developments, and investment opportunities.

The second, “EV Market Expansion and its Implications on Battery Demand,” will include industry experts who will share their latest forecasts on battery supply and demand, along with strategic implications for EV OEMs seeking to serve this market.

Sept. 15 will feature another two sessions. “Forecasting EV Battery Recycling Economics,” will see a panel of experts discuss challenged associated with forecasting battery and recycling costs, including the modeling of the battery recycling value chain and key detailing key factors that influence the economics.

“Investing in Battery Manufacturing in the U.S.: Rise of the Giga Factory” will focus on the rise of battery manufacturing in the US and provide an understanding on the progress, challenges, and opportunities facing the country.

On the final day of the conference, “How to Fill the Battery Talent Gap” will be a panel discussion about how to build a pipeline for the skilled workforce of engineers and other technical fields to sustain the rapidly growing industry.

The final session of the weekend is “Impact of Component Technology Selection when Designing Efficient EV Systems,” designed to provide attendees a better understanding of how component technology can impact EV efficiency, and pros and cons for where related components can be best used.
